Licensed psychologist Dr. Michael J. Gerson specializes in Executive Coaching and Development programs to help executives become more effective leaders within their corporate cultures. He also works with children and families and specializes in the evaluation of pediatric learning difficulties and attention deficits.

As an Executive Coach, Dr. Gerson has extensive domestic and international experience working with executives to help them maximize their performance and enhance their organization’s effectiveness. He has consulted with organizations in financial services, pharmaceutical distribution, publishing, advertising, manufacturing, professional services, and global and domestic management consulting. In addition to publicly traded corporations, Dr. Gerson’s consulting clients have included law firms, family firms, non-profit organizations, and public service entities, including the U.S. Navy and government agencies.

Dr. Gerson is a staff member of Barnabas Medical Center, and serves as the Psychological consultant to the Northeast Regional Cranio-Facial Center. He has made numerous Pediatric Grand Rounds presentations on Learning Disabilities and ADHD, and has presented at professional conferences.

Dr. Gerson completed Post-Doctoral clinical training at the Family Service and Child Guidance Center of the Oranges, Maplewood, and Millburn, and Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains. Additional post-doctoral work in family systems and therapy was completed at the Payne-Whitney Psychiatric Clinic, Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Gerson was one of the founders of the New Jersey Center for Family Studies, one of the state’s first training centers for family therapy.

Dr. Gerson graduated from Michigan State University, and earned his masters and Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association, the Council for the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards, the American Academy of Couple and Family Psychology, and the International Society for Coaching Psychology. The American Board of Professional Psychology has awarded Dr. Gerson Diplomate status in the Specialty of Family Psychology.
