Executive Coaching
The Purpose:
Dr. Michael Gerson designs a program to help executives maximize their career potential and enhance their managerial effectiveness. Executive coaching is not psychotherapy or career coaching, nor is it a remedial process. The coaching process is geared toward helping highly regarded managers effectively lead people and teams, and preparing them for increased responsibilities within their organization.
The Process:
Based upon in-depth interviews with the focal executive and designated associates, Dr. Gerson obtains information regarding the style, strengths and weaknesses of the executive, and discerns how colleagues in the workplace perceive the executive. Dr. Gerson develops a thorough understanding of the organization, its goals, managerial philosophy and desired direction is develop by exploring:
- Key “make-or-break” areas of the focal executive’s job
- Personal motivations
- Career potential and aspirations
- Obstacles encountered in accomplishing the job
- Interpersonal relationship and communication style
- Management skills and technical ability
A composite Executive Portrait is prepared and reviewed with the executive to reinforce and build upon strengths; to identify, clarify and overcome areas of need; and to optimize capabilities for effective team participation.
Throughout the process, Dr. Gerson develops a partnership with the executive and the organization, with a focus on the needs and goals of both the executive and organization.
