Dr. Mathias Hagovsky has spent more than 30 years treating and evaluating adults, adolescents, children, and infants in schools, hospitals, and private office settings.

In addition to a full-time group psychology practice, he serves as a Pediatric Specialty Consultant to the High Risk Clinic at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.

As a forensic psychologist, Dr. Hagovsky has provided evaluative information to the courts and other referral agents in more than 2200 matters and testified in approximately 400 family, civil, and criminal cases— many relating to allegations of child sexual abuse, parental alienation, and domestic violence. He is frequently court-appointed as a Parent Coordinator in Morris, Essex, Passaic, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Somerset, Hudson, Sussex, Union, Bergen, and Warren counties to conduct evaluations for or provide alternative dispute resolution in custody, parenting time, removal, and parent-child reconciliation.

Dr. Hagovsky is a regular faculty presenter for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Annual Judicial College Conferences. He also speaks to teachers, parents’ groups, and religious and civic organizations on subjects relating to children and families, and has contributed to The New York Times, New Jersey Psychologist, and Pediatric Research.

Dr. Hagovsky earned a Ph.D. in school psychology from Fordham University, focusing on learning patterns in children with the genetic disorder PKU (Phenylketonuria). He holds a master’s degree in school psychology from Seton Hall University, and bachelor’s in philosophy from Benedictine College.

He is a member of the American Psychological Association and was 2012 president of the New Jersey Psychological Association. He is a member and former director of the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
